Quick Look

Cooling is just part of daily life in Louisiana.

Louisiana’s weather makes air conditioning, airflow, and moisture control key to home comfort. The numbers below come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest home equipment data for Louisiana and national home energy research. Each number links to its original source and keeps the source date easy to see.

Methodology & Sources

How to read these stats.

This page brings together public data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Louisiana equipment numbers come from the 2020 Residential Energy Consumption Survey state tables, published March 2023. National electricity and household AC numbers are from the agency’s April 2022 analysis of that same survey.

Household equipment categories can overlap. Like, a home might have both central AC and a window unit, so don’t add those percentages together.
