You do not need to remove a cover, test wiring, or identify a failed part before calling. Tell us what you can observe safely from outside the equipment.
Tell us whether air is moving from the vents and whether it feels warm throughout the home or only in certain rooms. Note whether the outdoor unit appears to run. Lowering the thermostat repeatedly will not identify the cause.
Describe the thermostat display and any recent power interruption. A control, electrical, or equipment issue can interrupt cooling. Avoid repeatedly resetting breakers or bypassing a safety switch to make the unit run.
Switch cooling off if you see ice or a significant leak, provided you can do so safely. Tell us where you noticed it. Do not chip ice from a coil, open equipment, or reach into water around electrical components.
Stop using equipment that makes a severe new sound or smells like it is burning. If there is a fire or smoke suggesting a fire, leave the home and call 911 from safety. An AC appointment is not a substitute for emergency responders.
For a fire, follow the American Red Cross guidance to get out, stay out, and call 911.
From call to repair plan
When you call about your Jefferson Parish home, explain whether cooling stopped suddenly or gradually became weaker. Mention any previous work on the same issue, the equipment type if known, and whether more than one system serves the house. Those details help frame the visit without treating a phone conversation as a diagnosis.
Ask about the service visit and applicable charges before scheduling. At the assessment, discuss what was found, what the proposed repair is intended to correct, and whether parts need to be obtained. Availability, access, and parts can affect completion, so confirm the plan rather than assuming every breakdown can be finished on the first visit.
If the system has a history of trouble, ask how the current repair fits its overall condition. An urgent loss of cooling does not automatically require replacement. The aim is to understand the actual fault and compare practical choices for your home.
Air-conditioning services and options →Give your address and symptoms. Ask when a visit can be arranged.
Discuss access, diagnostic charges, and any after-hours fees.
A system inspection provides the basis for a repair recommendation.
Understand the proposed work and cost before authorizing the repair.
While a visit is arranged
For an ordinary cooling failure with no safety warning signs, check the thermostat setting and make sure room vents and returns are not covered. These are observations, not a reason to keep troubleshooting a system that is frozen, leaking, or showing an electrical problem.
Keep access to the indoor and outdoor equipment clear when safe. Have any previous service notes available, and tell us if the unit is in an attic or another hard-to-reach space. If the home is becoming too hot, arrange a cooler place to wait instead of relying on an unconfirmed arrival time.
After the urgent issue is addressed, ask whether routine AC maintenance would help address ongoing performance concerns. Maintenance supports a working system; a current failure needs a repair assessment first.

Once the problem is assessed, discuss the proposed work and its price before authorizing a repair. Parts, access, and equipment condition can affect the options.
An online message starts a service request. It does not confirm an appointment, dispatch a technician, or reserve an arrival time. Call for an urgent cooling concern so you can describe the situation and confirm availability directly. Include a callback number if you also send a message.
HVAC Remedies provides residential heat-pump service as well as air-conditioning repair. Mention that your system is a heat pump if you know, and describe whether the indoor fan, outdoor unit, or thermostat has changed. You do not need to identify the failed component before arranging a diagnosis.
No. A sudden failure needs an assessment before choosing between repair and replacement. Ask what failed, what the proposed repair addresses, and whether the equipment has other concerns. If replacement is worth considering, compare the choices after the immediate problem is understood rather than deciding from the symptom alone.
